DHW production module with storage

MDA

The MDA domestic hot water module is a pre-assembled unit for DHW production with storage, designed for centralised systems with high demand. It combines an inspectable plate heat exchanger, a high-efficiency pump, hydraulic components and electronic controls to manage water temperature, scheduled thermal cycles and system operation.

Domestic hot water production with storage

The module transfers heat to one or more domestic hot water storage tanks and the connected distribution network. Storage helps keep hot water available during peak demand. The configuration must be sized according to the draw-off profile, temperatures, flow rates, storage volume, circulation network and available heat source.

These characteristics make MDA suitable for hospitals, care homes, assisted-living facilities, hotels, apartment buildings, public swimming pools and sports centres, where service continuity and temperature control are essential.

Programmable thermal cycles for Legionella risk management

The MDA controller can schedule thermal disinfection cycles using a weekly calendar. The system stores the outcome of up to 64 cycles and can use alarms and the display to flag sensor faults or an incomplete cycle.

This function supports the technical management of DHW systems, but it must form part of the facility’s overall Legionella risk assessment and control plan. The MDA module is not a filtration or drinking-water treatment system and does not replace the correct design, operation, monitoring and maintenance of the complete installation.

Digital control and remote monitoring via Modbus

PID-based digital control lets operators set the required temperature and operating parameters. The Modbus connection allows integration with compatible building or plant management systems for remote monitoring, alarm checks and coordination with the heat plant.

Inspectable heat exchanger and project-specific design

The plate heat exchanger is designed around the operating data and permitted pressure drops. Its inspectable construction facilitates plate inspection, cleaning and maintenance. The unit is pre-assembled to simplify installation and requires the hydraulic and electrical connections specified in the project.

Information required for sizing

  • DHW demand profile and required flow rate;
  • inlet and outlet temperatures for both circuits;
  • storage volume and configuration;
  • circulation network characteristics;
  • heat source, operating pressure and permitted pressure drops;
  • supervision and alarm-management requirements.

Frequently asked questions about MDA

Does MDA eliminate Legionella?

MDA can schedule and record thermal disinfection cycles and flag cycles that are not completed. The outcome also depends on the correct design and management of the entire DHW system, so the module should not be presented as an absolute guarantee that risk is eliminated.

Can MDA be monitored remotely?

Yes. Its Modbus connection enables integration with compatible supervision systems for monitoring operating parameters and alarms.

How is the correct configuration selected?

Sizing is based on actual installation data and the expected demand profile. To identify the appropriate configuration, request project sizing and a technical quotation. You can also explore our DHW solutions for hospitals and care homes.
